!Dance Video Fever~
I'm hooked on dance videos. Especially those on youtube.com.
Here are my favourites:
First up we have the breakers- B-Boyers:

Borrowed Norah Jones latest album "Not too late" from the library.

I especially enjoyed one track in her album- Sinkin' Soon & its quirky lyrics, quite different from her usual style. I found the video on youtube. And I loved the look and feel of it, its refreshing. It uses some old-fashioned animation techniques and has a cabaret feel with unique camera shots. Norah looks very cute in the video too!
Lyrics:
We're an oyster cracker on the stew,
And the honey in the tea,
We're the sugar cubes,
one lump or two,
In the black coffee,
The golden crust on an apple pie,
That shines in the sun at noon,
We're a wheel of cheese high in the sky,
But we're gonna be sinkin' soon.
In a boat that's built of sticks and hay,
We drifted from the shore,
With a captain who's too proud to say,
That he dropped the oar,
Now a tiny hole has sprung a leak,
In this cheap pontoon,
Now the hull has started growing weak,
And we're gonna be sinkin' soon.
We're gonna be Sinkin' soon,
We're gonna be Sinkin' soon,
Everybody hold your breath 'cause,
We're gonna be sinkin' soon
We're gonna be Sinkin' soon,
We're gonna be Sinkin' soon,
Everybody hold your breath 'cause,
Down and down we go.
Like the oyster cracker on the stew,
The honey in the tea
The sugar cubes, one lump or two?
No thank you none for me.
We're the golden crust on an apple pie,
That shines in the sun at noon,
Like the wheel of cheese high in the sky
Well ... we're gonna be sinkin' soon.

Its weird being the most senior in school. You see hordes of Year 1s and 2s. Fresh faces everywhere. Its also a nice feeling. Deep down you know where classes/lectures will be held, where the best food are and that you don't really need to buy textbooks. hehe.
Media and Asia seems pretty interesting with Mr Loh. But it looks like my scant or near non-existent knowledge of government rulings in Asian countries would require me to do more reading up. No worries, we've already got plenty of reading material provided in font size 9. -oh, joy~
It also looks like there will be big projects coming up. yep. Time to start getting serious and down to business.
Friday night, Yushaa and I went down to Far East plaza after school to look for the retro plastic shoes, to no avail. No matter, I instead ended purchasing a skirt and an off-shoulder top. After which, I "dragged" her down to YMCA rooftop for an evening of music.
It was pretty windy up there with a clear crescent moon and stars dotting the night sky. The performers put up a pretty good show, some of it impromptu but could do with a lil' more practice. I particularly enjoyed the guitar style of Angus and the two sisters' vocals.
*all good things come in lil' unexpected surprises:)

It was wacky today at work.
- I spilt water on customers' skirt when her boyfriend made a sudden arm gesture to emphasize a point thus splashing some on her skirt. hehe.
- The teriyaki chickens' sizzling hot plate emitted so much smoke, it was suffocating and I felt that it could've set off the fire sprinklers in the restaurant any moment. But thank goodness it didn't.
*cause of smoke: too generous amount of butter on the hot plate
- A huge group of 30 students came to dine, creating instantaneous mayhem in the beverage and kitchen areas when the orders came through. Applause to the cooks who made all the orders (16 swiss grilled chicken etc...) on top of other tables orders.
- There was a major spring cleaning going on and I discovered layers of ancient dust beneath the counter. I can't imagine when was the last time a thorough cleaning was done. *waves away dust particles

Spent an entire day at the polyclinic. I felt Singapore's humidity at its peak. AND I ate an excellent American cheesecake. AND I saw a big ASS carnival with rides (ferris wheel n the works) + pasar malam behind CompassPoint.
Finally, my dislocated hand found back its socket while I was meddling around with it. Ever since I sprained it last week at dance practice. With a 'Crack!' it went back into place. And felt right as ever. yay.
goodnight, dear readers!
have a good week!

Stage magic- has been associated with Harry Houdini, that instant when something happens you can’t explain. A wave of a wand, a mysterious vanishing trick, the materializing of doves, perhaps even connected with sorcery or wizardry. Cynics call it a bunch of hocus-pocus others remember famous incantations like Abracadabra!
Magic is an art performed with finesse. A magician performs a trick that cannot be explained or an illusion that makes you wonder and gape in awe. "It must be magic!" Indeed it is, for it is a very specialized field for one, a craft that shrouded in mystery, darkness and grandeur perhaps.
Movies we watch, books we read all have an element of magic in it. For with magic the possibilities are endless, surprises happen and it adds sparkle to the imagination. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Prestige, the myths and legends. They speak of fairy people, elves, dragons, cauldrons and the likes. It allows us to indulge in fantasy that spans from childhood memories a source of escape from the real world maybe.

*Carrefour's chocolate chip and nougat cookies are the best midnight snacks a gal could wish for...*
Darling Yushaa and I caught up with friends for a Saturday Night-OUT!

Following a pretty cool street jazz class, (damn. next week is the last class.)
I strolled down to Orchard to meet up with Yushaa, her IJ friends (Brigitta & Christina- the twins, Charmaine) and Jeremy at Coffee Club, taka. A really sweet bunch of gals had a good time over muddy mud pies and a country pie.
*butterflies and cute bunnies not included*

After which the twins left us sadly...But made an agreement to meet again for drinks! And so, what was left of us made our way down to Tangs Basement to undulge in Singaporean food!- otah.Otah. CheeKway. Butterfly crispy bread. we got stuffed. Then everyone parted ways....+.
Fiz,Yus and I then scouted around Clarke Quay for a nice place to chill out. Crashed Indochine, Forbidden City which had a nice ambiance ( terracotta warriors, flashy lights, cocoon-like drapes, day beds) but the drinks are way below standard. We grew restless after awhile and hopped over to JAZZ@ Southbridge where the rhythm of the night was beating stronger and Kenneth joined us shortly after.
Drinks were fantastic:*hic
Yushaa- Long Island Tea
me- Passionfruit Margarita
Kenneth- Bailey's Irish cream
Fiz- Honeybear (which really shld be bitterbear) hehe.

The pianist performing that night really outdid himself. It was a most energetic performance I've seen. Accompanied by the saxophone player- Eli Degibri, a most interesting display of jazz music.
Which leaves another day to experience new things and places! :)
Elina where were you that night?

There's an article in the Sunday Times (1/4/07) written by Janas Devan.
What caught my interest was the fact that there's a dictionary titled-

How cool is that?!
And who'd ever think that colours can be described and applied in so many variations in the English language?
Colours have been related to emotion, history, food, drink, art, music, science and this book covers it all in depth.
Its available on Amazon.com last I checked, but not too sure locally though.
The example she gave:
"HOW many sentences can one make up with 'green' in them?
Let's see:
Greenhorns in the financial sector make lots of money. Flush with cash, Mr A, a hedge fund trader - who may not be as green as he is cabbage-looking - bought a Hummer. He drove it from MacRitchie, in the city's green lung, to Punggol, the proposed site for Singapore's new green homes. He had his girlfriend, Ms B, with him, to whom he had just given a green gown at MacRitchie. She looked a little green about the gills, poor girl, being prone to car-sickness. Along the way, they saw gardeners with green fingers keeping in trim the roadside greenery, and many pedestrians who looked green with envy as they saw the Hummer zip past them. A few days later, one among Singapore's green ink brigade sent a letter to The Straits Times' Forum Page calling on the Government to ban greenhouse gas-spewing Hummers. We need some green-hat thinking on global warming, he said. "

Speaking of good movies, I revisited the music soundtracks of one of my fav. piano shows on youtube.com and here's an interesting snippet from the movie- The Legend of 1900. One of my fav. scenes...
An interesting way of showing how music inspires one!

It's been a darn good while since I've seen a really good movie.
And I caught the Italian Job on DVD with my sister on a laid-back Sunday afternoon and it was fantastic!
