Makes me wonder sometimes, whether people really know what they're talking about when they just openly make untrue statements in public areas like the MRT-especially on something as sensitive as religion.
A careless remark might just add tensions amongst fellow Singaporeans.
I've had about 3 encounters on the MRT or more. Once, was made by some 2 teenage boys who were obviously very caught up in the Da Vinci codes movie. They were discussing the storyline in great detail but seemed rather confused as far as telling apart fact from fiction. An example: Ooh, ya jesus actually married mary secretly and had a child.
Oh really? I wish I could just tell them to get REAL and read up first.
Another example, middle-aged tai tai's who sit and talk.
An exerpt: "that friend of yours roman catholic ah?
Oh that one can pray to other gods also can."
She meant obviously other Gods meaning besides Jesus, Mary as well.
But the way she said it obviously had some underlying meaning tinged in it. She too was probably a fellow Christian.
Kinda pisses me off, why can't we just respect each other's religion instead of referring to it in such manner?

*the above was written with no intention to offend anybody.but to create awareness:)

Well anyway, I saw this picture online. I like-

BALLET under the Stars aka BUTS was FAN-tabulously breath-taking.
It's really beautiful to have a picnic on a grassy slope beneath the constellations just watching graceful ballerinas leap, twirl and sway. Some costumes were quite elaborate and some made of swishy material. Indeed it was money well spent! Shen made lovely vegetarian hamburgers. So we went home with happy stomachs:)
*dreamy faraway look (o.O)
-Hang on!- there's another one in August! Oh yay! I wanna go again!

My 2 hairy caterpillars went for their maiden trim today at Patini's at Little India. They are looking much neater then before. hee hee!
Yushaa my best friend, had the pleasure of watching me squirm and took uncanny sadistic pleasure of filming my agony down. I pray she doesn't decide to post it on youtube.

OM presentations were really good!
We have really creative minds at work in our class.

Words cannot express really how grateful we are to you--Keith for allowing us to do our OM project over at your house. Otherwise the 3 Easties( Kevin, Felicia and me) would've travelled back to the East after travelling to the West:D yes, we didn't know the library was CLOSED on Saturdays!:(

We had to complete the boring OM report...it was tedious and annoying. Thank goodness good company and music made up for it!
Keith taught me a thing or two about the guitar:) me being a newbie to guitar and all.
Like here's a really good website for the diff. chords.

Presentation on Monday...bummer(><")

My heart goes out to blogger Mr Brown who's column has been deemed too explicit by the -good- government. All I can say, is I'm glad that there are people who are not taking it lying down.

DMA's formal presentation is over. Phew ! what a relief. The Q&A session was tricky. My hats off to my group mates who had to answer.

Aye! Finally, caught the Pirates of the Caribbean. It's mighty good, I must say. The ending left me hanging off my seat!! arrggh! Can't wait for the sequel! *warning spoilers ahead...:D

Captain Jack sparrow mentioned Singapore in the Curse of the black pearl and in this sequel the dead man's chest: Singapore was mentioned quite a few times. Bothered me quite a bit. It disturbed me enough to send me on a search: ta-da "A recent article in Empire magazine revealed a visit to the Singapore set which features in part of the movie." Ah ha! Okay so SINGAPORE is in the next movie! whoo!
Keira Knightly kissed Johnny Depp! nnooooo....
This movie has very cool sets and stunts & even more witty and sacarstic lines.
My personal favourites:
1. the crew hanging mid-air trapped in a ball
2. Johnny Depp tied to a pole made a wild escape
3.Commodor Vs Orlando Bloom on the wheel!

AND...

I caught ' Thank you for smoking' with Yushaa & Fat cat it's really good. I'll definitely watch it again on DVD. It's very entertaining and stimulating. The whole film was done very nicely! Comedy and drama in one, at the same time it covers the sensitive issue of smoking. Why is it wrong to smoke? why can't people make their own choices? Why you should never sleep with a reporter- it could ruin your career.haha!

Adios!

I'm so glad everyone's so understanding despite the fact they had to re-type the 30 surveys. aahhhh....

Went to City Hall to meet Dominic & Andrew. I love the calamari rings Andrew got from the marketplace! Scrumptious. We then headed towards Marina Square, Andrew can Para Para and play the drums real well. whoa.
Met an old time colleague Wilfred, cool. He's doing pretty well in the liqour business. So anyone who wants to but liqour, can look him up.
Andrew said according to Conb's theory people who go to SALEs have insecurities that's why we need more clothes? what the? hmmm....
Yeah, maybe. I feel insecure that if I don't get into the latest trend, maybe. I feel insecure being seen twice in the same outfit. Possible.
Okay. I feel insecure sometimes.
Off we went to our next destination---Suntec City for dinner! The Kuali Restaurant. First thing, we did was do a double take.....how much will it c$$t? Being poor students you know.

Finally saw the birthday boy....Jeremy.C! Thankfully the restaurant was pretty much empty so we had most of it to ourselves. We got the cosy corner! We met his accapella friends and his neighbours. Most of us went for the semi-buffet. Was quite a pity, they had oysters but I don't really appreciate it. The cakes and chocolate fondue was good though.
We met Terry- Elina's classmate. He's very charming with a wicked sense of humour. Andrew and his Yogosalvian OoPs! I meant Bohemian poetry just cracked me up!(><,) I recited poetry during the sharing session. I should've practised. oh well, nevermind.youmight'veguessediscreweditup. Jeremy recited his 'Eighteeth' poem with so much feeling & gusto. For a moment there, I almost understood what he was trying to portray. How could I even think of flaunting my poetry skills infront of HIM. It's utter suicide! We all made a toast to him & gluttony! Birthday cake appeared and...

birthday boy makes speech.
"thank you everyone...."

"And lastly....I'd like to..."

Ta-da! Elina volunteered to feed Jeremy some cake and DUCK! went Jeremy's instinct. CRASH! Plate and cake came flying in the unfourtunate's table direction. No one got hurt, exeception Jeremy's brow. oucH!

We all had to leave then...awww...more hugs and goodbyes!
My last words are...Let's share our hugs!(:

I thought I'd share this poem I found on the net.
Fog light dripping in the eucalyptus leaves near morning. You imagine the day as a small boat beached somewhere in the cold. It takes a little more time to open your hands, to feel the light
Against the window, More time. And then you see yourself as a young girl on a hill. The trees are warm and immense, the sun is white in the edges Of graceful shadows,
and you are standing there with the sun Defining your hair, and eventually, your thoughts.

For now, there are no particular transformations. There is the spear-shaped leaf with its bark stripped down the branches. The pale color of green gives way to black. How many days will it take for the clouds to fade at the center? Immeasurable. Only desire repeats itself like the initial sound of rain, the tap-tap, tap-tap, on the glass pane, And the road, empty at the moment, of travellers, curving past the barn And the blond wind blown back in a field.

When the doves settled in the light made of stone and wheat, lacking tenacity, you were ready to yield to a similar mood. Not quite lonely, not ambitious for common habits or consolations, Not fearful of the sorrows that pass like sleep, Like a peasant woman who gathers hay in the first light To feed the animals, who burns a fire, chops wood, And says little, you were ready to tie the scarf around your hair, And smell the coming of a harsh winter . . .

Over the deaf-sirens

Invisibly splashing the puddles of filth from the streets. You were willing to stay in a dark, cold century, To listen to wind in the creaking trees,
Half-moon in the window,

You would not wake up for a long time, dove-dreaming, poking a stick into flames.

Official website of Thank you for Smoking
Well the censorship board in SIngapore simply never ceases to amaze me with their uncanny ability in finding fault with everything that gives off wrong messages.

HOLLYWOOD's latest satire on the tobacco industry will be coming out soon. And because the ads show a spoof of Superman- ripping of his jacket with a white-tee revealing a smoking allowed sign, its going to be modified. Yes, its going against the govt's plan of smoke-free Singapore. sheesh.

Hear, hear, there is actually an Act stating: ads that support smoking to be prohibited. If found guilty of publishing an ad supporting use of tobacco you will be fined $10,000 & jailed up to 6 months. ooOOOoo

However, if you're lucky you might see the poster in some theatre displays and magazines.

I mean we're exposed to all sorts of media, we are not so easily swayed by ads like that. Besides, smoking is something that is universal. It's impossible to wipe it out. Banning an ad.+ Creating gorier anti-smoking ads help? I don't know.& highly doubt so.

My solution, let them be. Educate people about the harmful effects yea. If they don't listen its their loss. Sometimes, we should learn the hard way.

I can't wait to catch it in theatres! It opens next Thursday. Rated:M18

Had triple lectures in the morning- ConB, LSC and OM. I'm glad Mr Rajan is so understanding about our marks and Lulin, though I wish I were brave enough to voice some of our unhappiness. Oh well, let's hope FW classes get better.

We had to ballot since CDA-Creative Digital Art had too many applicants. Million thanks to Felicia for giving up her CDA place to me:)

After that I met Zul, Hanafi & Clara for lunch at FC3. It was the first time I heard the full version of the power rangers song- Zul was playing the song. Kinda brings back fond memories. White ranger & pink ranger are my favourites. Hope Clara's sprained neck gets better soon. We can't go without our fav. Dance captain!

Jeremy came over to SP and had lunch at FC4. Then we hung out at the library.

Jeremy had a sudden fascination with the blinds.

I still have to learn a few things about photography...
poor lighting=bad shots.

In the end, Andrew came along and off we were to YMCA for the much anticipated (at least for me it was)- Budak Pantai gig. And it means Beach Boys in Malay. And it does nOt sound vulgar Yushaa & Andrew!
We queued up got seats and exchanged our 'cowpons' for drinks * snacks. Get this the cafe up there's called: Blue Moo hence coupons= 'cowpons'. cool huh?
So it was Oreo milkshakes for all with whipped cream. Yum!
Budak pantai is so entertaining and quirky.
In essence,
Good acapella singing + wicked humour= Budak pantai!
It was lovely cool night.. After intermission, we met Jeremy's friend Rui Ming who's this really sweet classmate of his doing an interview with Budak Pantai. So we ended up sitting there and chatting. Watching this odd middle-aged man do lonely laps in the pool. Music sure is good.

We got 2 shots just to be sure! Lucky us had the previlege to sit on the Budak Pantai stools! & take a snapshot with them!

If I had Hermione's magic wand, with a flick- my shirt would've screamed "I Love Budak Pantai!" instead of panther(pink). hehe!

Budak Pantai's albums are available @ the Esplanade or at their website: www.bluemoo.com.sg
They perfrom monthly at the YMCA details on the website!
Lastly, Budak Pantai rocks!

P.S: Jeremy I hope you enjoyed yourself too!
