Got my IMF uniform today!
It's pink and grey. Actually it doesn't look too bad.
I feared the worst, but I guess I should give them some credit.
Brother Malcolm gave me 2 free movie passes which were expiring so I used it today. Nobody was free to watch the movies with me.
So I caught...
The Lakehouse
and The Fast and Furious-Tokyo Drift- Alone.
Wasn't too bad I guess. Just that, I had no one to lean on or rant & rave the movie about.
The Lakehouse was marvellous, with darling Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock! My favourite duo. I love movies that show stuff like love can withstand the test of time or distance. And that people who are destined to be together finally do find each other. Makes me go all sappy and soft-hearted. sniff* sniff*
I love happy endings too:)
Tokyo Drift has a lot of hot wheels in it. And hot guys look hotter behind the wheels. I was gripping the seat for my dear life . The fast turns and drifting whoa... it's as good as it gets. Reminds me of the Legend of Speed .
And Lucas Black looks so cute when he winks and when he has that bad-ass look of his!;)

Lucas Black for U only!

Went out with April last night to Bedok's pasar malam.
And bought this Disney edition puzzle for $4.
The quality is below average and there's little 'ant-like' insects crawling in it. SO I -squaSH! ew...I know. and they are microscopic!
But because I love the picture...
I will complete it.
Spent half the morning trying to piece it together.
*maybe when I'm richer I'll buy a better quality version from a proper jigsaw shop*-on my wishlist -hint-hint
Went back to work at Sizzler after so many months!
The joy of serving people is still so satisfying:)
it makes all the other unpleasant things insignificant like:
the NEW manager who has to put up a notice saying
" please wipe the table after clearing the plates",
to me it shows that the staff( all of us have been with Sizzler for so long) has no initiative at all to clean the table? I feel insulted!
the normal aches on the legs after standing and running about.
sweaty and oily feeling after a hard days' work.
Through it all we make a good team at Sizzler offering the best service for customers:D

Took a taxi to church cause' we were running late.
The taxi driver was so nice and gave me the Singapore Tatler magazine coz' I was reading it. His exact words were " If you want it you can have it la. take it!"
Curiousity in me couldn't resist taking a look at what sort of magazines the RICH in Singapore read. haha!
Shall attempt to analyse it.
Singapore Tatler afterall isn't the sort of magazine I'd buy off the shelves. It is meant for the high society class in Singapore and it costs $8! that's equivalent to a movie ticket!
People who have too much money and spend their nights going for balls, gala parties, anniversaries and having their pictures taken.
About 20 pages are dedicated to photos of people who attended these events.
A lot of flamboyant and flowery language is used in the magazine.
Paper quality is very good. This makes the magazine heavier and bulkier.
The main contents:
Wine
Dining out
People
Fashion & acessories
Great escapes
The Arts
Business
Socialbite
at 200 pages I guess it's quite a substantial magazine.
I've noticed a similarity amongst all the pictures taken at the parties. All of them look good and have the same shiny white smiles:D
And their outfits probably cost more than 1 year of my allowance!
The fashion models are caucasians.
Why?
Does it make the branded clothes look more sophisticated?
What is wrong with our Asian models?
Do you recall the lawsuit between Singapore Tatler and Prestige over who was voted as the most read amongst the high society in Singapore?
I'd like to get my hands on Prestige to have a balanced view on which magazine is more readable.
But then again what fun would there be without rivalry?

A Tribute to my Group members during the Amazing Race yesterday...
Group #44 comprised of
The SAF guys: our OLDER brothers
Rafili aka Rough
Dun Rui
The Chai Lai Angels
Irene
Kelly
Geraldine
The guy in pink who is an excellent runner
Moses
Desiree & Roselyn the inseparable 2.
and me:)
a total of 9 of us!
This number soon had special significance to us!
It was an awesome team, wouldn't trade any of them for the world.
Very Enthusiastic, Fun & Funny lot!
Rough and Dun Rui became our default leaders and ICs & they led the team well -made sure no one was left behind or got lost.
But alas' I LOST the map when it dropped out of my bag!!
I felt so, SO, sO bad...I'm so careless. SIGH. I ran back with Moses and Rough to find it but no such luck, it was LOST- gone.*poof!
But in the end, being the nice, forgiving Group they were, we continued on valiantly.
I thank them for that!
We ate KFC at B2 of the Esplanade, the air-con felt like bliss on our sweaty selves. haha! and KFC 2-piece chicken has never tasted so good before. (*here I must admit I'm not a big fan of fast-food besides long john silver)
At least we had fun.
Besides, we're going to work with each other as IDOs
(information desk officers) during the IMF period at Changi airport, T2.
I felt so sad when it all ended back at Oriental hotel, when we had to go our separate ways, no matter! we'll definitely visit our SAF friends at the budget terminal!

Finally caught up with some movies,
Hellboy and Nanny McPhee.
and
got started reading again.
Almost French is a lovely non-fiction book based on a freelance Australian journalist- Sarah Turnbull's life in France.
She got to know a charming french guy, Frederic and decided to move there. The lucky girl, he cooked splendid dinners for her. She dined at lil' cafes, ate cheese and wine. Visited the Lourve museum! He brought her for lots of social events like cocktail parties and dinners. Most which she just became an armchair because communication was quite a barrier and the culture is different.
In the end she decided to stay on in France which is a really brave thing to do, since she didn't have a job.
It doesn't just paint the nice, rosy picture beacause in reality it's not about getting swooped away romanced by some charming french guy.
Ah-yes. But I do believe it has a happy ending... later:)
Things I've learnt...
French people are exceptionally affectionate!
Two-pecks on the cheek and such. ma petite, ma poulette
French are proud of their heritage and language,
I love the way it's spoken, so poetic and beautiful.
They are Arty people.
Their meals are eaten in moderate portions and they lay their tables!
that's the good stuff.
the not so nice stuff I shall refrain from mentioning....

I need to whine...
SO here I go.
The COsta Sands resort people have NOT been helpful.
Call them and they don't pick up!
I swear I'm never booking chalets from them again!
I'm stuck at home. YUshaa's having dinner with her parents.
SO its me and Maggi mee. Oh wells.
It is humid and hot, don't you just adore the Singapore weather!
It've FINISHED my exams, MMR paper was a killer!
To TOP is all off...
I've got 2 blisters on both feet on the little toe!
An irritable bubble that I so wanna burst. You know how the fluid forms up to protect your flesh from further abrasions.
Yep, thanks to the new pair of converse shoes.
1 ant bite. I got it while crossing across the grass to catch the bus. Next thing I knew I felt a painful sting & there was the huge black ant on my FOOT! I swiped it off & it attempted to bite my hand! Get OFF! ew..*shudders
My F-E-E-T! You poor things and tomorrow I shall abuse you further by tracking round Singapore for the Amazing Race:(
I'm feeling very-VERY irritable now.
Going to take a COLD shower.

Was at TP's library Studying. They have nice library alright. And nice books too.Cosy environment and project rooms to study in. Oooh! I do wish that I was studying there. It has such a nice atmosphere. Everything's so green and new. Food's pretty good. The stall holders are real friendly too.
Borrowed, Almost French by Sarah Turnbull. It's a travel memoir about how a Sydney girl moved to France. Can't wait to read it!
Snacking in the library with April, Jesher, Louisa, Jem and Terrance and the sister. *munch munch!
oOps here comes the security guard.
*scrambles to hide the food.
hahaha! it was so funny.
Later on, April's mum cooked the Wonderful spaghetti. Hungry people who haven't eaten in a while, gobbled everything up. Thank you for the * burp delicious meal April! Love ya!~

On a lighter note...
I'm spending way too much everyday. Even when I'm not working.
CONTROL! exercise self-control Phoebs.
Do not tempt me to going down to Orchard Road or shopping districts.
Jem, no more TCC. Plush seats and nice ambience is nice.
But I can do without it for now... till I start working again.
Money creates lots of problems and headaches.
I should live a lil' but knowing how hard it is to come by and earn it, allows me to truly appreciate the value.
Do not attempt to sway me otherwise.
Looking forward to chalet at Downtown east with the GIRLs!
& an 'educational' movie courtesy of Andrew.
Super-ex girlfriend is a SUPer-duper hilairious movie.

Warning: movie could cause shortness or breaths and un-ladylike laughing fits.

Sometimes it feels that half my life I'm living a lie. Who do I deceive but myself? As Jem puts it appropriately 'we are just suppressing negative aspects of human nature that is already inherent in us'. It's like the hideous aspects that threaten to rear its ugly head.
Instinctively, I would calculate the benefits I would get out of a situation even if I didn't want to do it. I am a YES-man I don't deny. I find it hard to turn people down and I hate myself for saying No.
Society dicatates proper decorum thus, it is innate nature that I should behave in a certain manner no?
The bigger question is why?
Is this deceit making or lives a lil' bearable? or is it just creating a plastic facade that is meant to please and placate people?
Human beings are such complex creatures with many needs and desires that seem endless. That I believe is the root of all evil. The need for power feeds the evil in mankind. It will one day lead to the destruction or is already in process as can be seen around the world.
It greatly bothers and saddens me.
Hope and salvation seems a distant and foolish thought.
Is it possible?
Delving deeper would mean studying the profound aspects of Anthropology and psychology.

My house is beginning to feel like a pet store!!
Newest addition to the Tampines household is Cookie a Schnauzer! Dark grey coating. She is currently residing beside the dinning table and the washing machine. Unleashed but trapped within the confines of a cage. Poor dog. What could be worse?
Leashed up like Kiki the resident Jack Russel or behind bars?
I can't imagine.
Good NEWS Jack Russel Lovers or DOGGY lovers!
My Jack Russel- Kiki is up for adoption!
We will miss this lovable, fun-loving, cute dog.
He is not very fussy, eats almost anything(though we prefer to feed him with dry dog food)
Preferred home would be with a kind person who lives in a bungalow with a garden for him to run around.
Interested parties may tag me or call me for more enquires!
Good Day!:)
There's this amazing shop called DASIO at IMM.
I discovered it by chance though I've heard of it.
Wait till you actually see it!
It's got everything under the sun. It like a dry SUPERmarket selling mostly Japanese products for just $2.
The cheapo and bargain-lover in me couldn't resist spending an hour looking at all the items, even then I didn't cover the entire space- YUP it's that huge!
Good news is that there's a branch opening at Plaza Singapura in Sep! & one more at the new Vivo City, so that means it'll be so accessible.
I didn't leave empty-handed: bought some envelopes and nice writing stationery and some nose-snot-absorbers (these come in handy when you're having a runny nose that refuses to stop. stuff this spongy cylindrical shape thing up your nostril and viola instant relief!) have yet to try it though!
The teriyaki chicken at Mos burger Bugis is horrible. Utter disappointment. Fortunately, the Ultimate hazelnut frappe at TCC was pretty good! Didn't study, haha, but chatted with Jeremy for hours.

Exams. Exams. Rotten papers! :(
Finally the weekend is here!
TGIF!
Let me take a breath of fresh air! No musty books. Florescent light(table lamp) glaring at me for a few hours.
!Updates!
I went to the NLB book fair at Expo last Sunday.
Went early like 9am in the morning. No crowd yet. Phew.
I bought:
Dance magazines!! ($5 for a pack of 10)
Book about New York
Perspectives of Art (for Weixin a dear friend studying at NAFA)
2 Kiddie books (for Glenda & Gerard-my fav. lil' kiddos)
Short stories of unicorns (bought it at whim!)
Yoga for everyone (DIY!)
Luckily, I brought a haversack. I lugged the books home happily. haha!!
Study week... I drank a lot of TEA!
Not coffee or red bull.
Jeremy and I crashed the Polar Cafe at the airport and discovered the lovely fruit teas that they have. The Dilmah brand!! I love the Blackcurrant tea but I checked the marketplace and they only have Lychee.
why-OH-why?
So I satisfied myself with the Lipton- Cranberry, Rasberry, Strawberry tea which really isn't too bad! It smells heavenly of berries! Tastes a lil' like Ribena, but of course WAY better.
I Love T-E-A.

The next movie I wanna catch...
is .... Sophie Scholl- The final days.
Synopsis extracted from the GV website:
The true story of Germany's most famous anti-Nazi heroine. As Hitler continues to wage war across Europe, a group of college students mount an underground resistance movement in Munich. Dedicated expressly to the downfall of the monolithic Third Reich war machine, they call themselves the White Rose. One of its few female members, Sophie Scholl is captured during a dangerous mission to distribute pamphlets on campus with her brother Hans. Unwavering in her convictions and loyalty to the White Rose, her cross-examination by the Gestapo quickly escalates into a searing test of wills as Scholl delivers a passionate call to freedom and personal responsibility that is both haunting and timeless.
It's filmed in German.120mins.
She's one of those war heroines that truly inspire.
I wanna watch!

Caught Din and Tonic at Hilton Hotel. Funny lot of smart, witty, dashing singers. Suddenly, white bows and tailcoats looks really good.So swayed was I, that I bought the album- The Dins and chatted with Rowan, majoring in Anthropology. Got their autographs! whooppee!
Soon after left to buy a black pair of soft shoes at Golden landmark for Street jazz class which I signed up for at the CC the day before.
Then met Yushaa, Jeremy and Elina to watch fireworks at the Esplanade. Fireworks were imported from Italy, beautiful really... for 15mins I was dazzled by the fireworks and blocked by plams trees, it was really crowded.

Rapture @ the Esplanade was really smooth. The dancing was groovy though most were modern pieces. The SAJC dancers are really a talented lot. I hope maybe one day I'll be able to dance like that. * dreams wistfully...
Watched RENT with the sometimes annoying but still lovable sister who eats more than ME!
I've been wanting to catch the movie for a long time... It did NOT disappoint thankfully.
The actors and actress sing really well. In harmony... blissfully music to my ears.
My favourite soundtracks are the first song: Seasons of Love and the tango Maureen.
It's a really quirky movie that's touching and beautiful.
I'm sure it lived up to the original broadway musical.
I'll watch it over and over again...

The MMR report is F-I-N-A-L-L-Y done! My biological clock is haywired I think. At night, don't sleeep. In the day, nap for a few hours. Amazing. Yet, I still walk straight. Haven't formally attended classes for 3 whole days. ha! A record-breaker for me yet! To those unaware, I never skip classes unless absolutely necessary, which I felt was worth it.
Yushaa and Bob, we did IT! I'm sure we impressed the socks of Ms Tan Peng Peng with our presentation. Buttermilk cornbread muffins rock! haha!:) My Southern accent is needs improvement...hehe...
Doing MMR was actually good bonding session with the girls at Lydia's house. Frequenting the Starbucks, taking the LRT. It's all become too routine. I even smiled at Lydia's security guard. Yes, I've gone bonkers!
