Took a taxi to church cause' we were running late.
The taxi driver was so nice and gave me the Singapore Tatler magazine coz' I was reading it. His exact words were " If you want it you can have it la. take it!"
Curiousity in me couldn't resist taking a look at what sort of magazines the RICH in Singapore read. haha!
Shall attempt to analyse it.
Singapore Tatler afterall isn't the sort of magazine I'd buy off the shelves. It is meant for the high society class in Singapore and it costs $8! that's equivalent to a movie ticket!
People who have too much money and spend their nights going for balls, gala parties, anniversaries and having their pictures taken.
About 20 pages are dedicated to photos of people who attended these events.
A lot of flamboyant and flowery language is used in the magazine.
Paper quality is very good. This makes the magazine heavier and bulkier.
The main contents:
Wine
Dining out
People
Fashion & acessories
Great escapes
The Arts
Business
Socialbite
at 200 pages I guess it's quite a substantial magazine.
I've noticed a similarity amongst all the pictures taken at the parties. All of them look good and have the same shiny white smiles:D
And their outfits probably cost more than 1 year of my allowance!
The fashion models are caucasians.
Why?
Does it make the branded clothes look more sophisticated?
What is wrong with our Asian models?
Do you recall the lawsuit between Singapore Tatler and Prestige over who was voted as the most read amongst the high society in Singapore?
I'd like to get my hands on Prestige to have a balanced view on which magazine is more readable.
But then again what fun would there be without rivalry?
Dreaming of a new day ahead!;
Just making my way through the crowd
